L'Association des Bassistes et Contrebassistes De France lance un concours de composition à l'occasion du Festival BASS ' 2008 Convention Internationale de Contrebassistes, qui se tiendra du 30 octobre au 2 novembre 2008 au CNSMDP .
Ce concours est destiné aux compositeurs de toutes nationalités âgés de 18 ans et plus.
L'oeuvre, INEDITE, aura la forme d'une pièce pour contrebasse seule sans équipements électroniques, électro-acoustiques, ou autres, et durera entre 6 et 8 minutes .
Le premier prix, s'il est décerné, sera édité et publié par les Editions Musicales Européennes, et fera partie du programme imposé lors de la finale du concours international de contrebasse lié à cet événement .Il sera en outre doté d'une somme de 1500 euros.

The association
of basses and double basses players of France organize the first
edition of a Composition Competition during the Festival :
Bass' 2008 - International
double basses convention
Will take
place from October 30th to November 2nd, 2008, at the Conservatoire
National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP).
This competition is open to composers of all nationalities, born
after June 15th, 1990.
The piece, original one, should have the form of a work for double bass only, without any electronic, electroacoustic or other technology, duration 6 to 8 minutes.
The First Prize, if given, will be edited and published by the Editions Musicales Européennes, and will be part of the imposed program during the final round of the double bass competition in relation with this event. The winner will receive a prize money of 1500EUR.

Composition Competition
The A.B.C.D.F. (Association des Bassistes et Contrebassistes de France / Association of bassists and double bassists of France) is organizing a composition competition as part as the Festival Bass' 2008.
This competition is open to any composer born after June 15, 2008, and of any nationality. Its aim is to develop the creation for double bass : the work will be composed exclusively for double bass solo (no electronic, electro acoustic or computer), for a duration of 6 to 8 minutes. Works may not have been previously awarded, performed, recorded or published. The first prize, if given, will be included in the compulsory repertoire of the final round of the international competition Bass 2008, and will be granted 1500EUR. The Editions Musicales Européennes, partners of the competition, will edited and published the work.
Deadline for receiving compositions : 15 June 2008, in 5 copies, with a letter confirming the participation of the applicant to the competition and acceptance of the present rules.

Organization of the competition :
The jury members will first meet for a selection of the manuscripts. The selected scores will be then prepared by professional double bassists and played for the jury members before July 15, 2008. The selected work will be then entrusted to the Editions Musicales Européennes for edition (a contract will be signed, the composer will be asked to proofread the engraver's proof) and sent to all candidates of the International Competition Bass 2008, in the "recital" category.
The Composition Prize will be awarded during the final concert of the double bass competition.
The jury's decision is final. The jury reserves the right not to award the prize.
Candidates are free of any editorial exclusivity so that the Editions Musicales Européennes can product and print the score.
